One of my commitments during this campaign to be the next State Representative is to meet as many voters as possible. The campaign has several ways to do this. The Walk Across the District is one that is scheduled for June 7 though 9 (Friday through Sunday). I hope to meet and talk to voters as I walk between Southbury, New Milford, Bridgewater and Roxbury. Please plan to walk a bit with me, even a few hundred feet, a mile or a whole segment. Or join us at one of the many events along the way.
There are 4 walks planned. See the route and the planned events below:
The overall schedule is shown below:
Southford Falls to Southbury Town Hall
Starting from Southford Fall at 2:30 PM on June 7th, we will head towards Hurd Hills Road, follow that until we take a right onto Jeremy Swamp road. Although we could continue on Jeremy Swamp Road, we will take a left onto beautiful Sanford Road past the Philips-Lovdal Farm Preserve and turn right on to Jacobs Road and connect back to Jeremy Swamp Road. We will take a left on to the Bridal Trail and then go cross Ketteltown Road at the traffic light before heading on to the old IBM property. From there we cross over I-84 before heading down historic Depot Hill Road to Main Street South where we proceed west to Town Hall.
After a gathering at Town Hall for a rally, we will head over to Senor Pancho’s for a reception hosted by the Southbury Democratic Town Committee.
Hudson’s Bistro to Hidden Gem Orchard
On Saturday morning, June 8th, we will gather at Hudson’s Bistro (466 Heritage Road, Southbury) at 9:30 AM for coffee and leave at about 10:00 for the Hidden Gem Orchard farmstand in the heart of Southbury Farms (formerly Southbury Training School). We will head up Wheeler Road onto East Hill Road before crossing into Traditions and down to South Britain Road (Route 172). There we take a short walk on South Britain Road and take a right onto Spruce Brook Road past the Platt’s iconic dairy farm. At the top of the hill, we take a right onto Purchase Brook Road until we get to the Hidden Gem Orchard. There Jim Wargo will give us an overview of his unique apple orchard and his experience on the Southbury Farms.
Clatter Valley Park to Bridgewater Bistro
We will meet at Clatter Valley Park in New Milford at 9:30 where the New Milford DTC will have some water and snacks for those walking. This is a short walk. We leave the park to go on Hat Shop Hill Road and turn onto Curtis Road and then left onto Henry Sanford Road. When we get to Main Street in Bridgewater, we take a right to get to the Bistro. There the campaign will be buying coffee as part of our Coffee and Conversation events.
Bridgewater Town Hall to Hurlburt Park in Roxbury
Our final leg is the longest (save the best for last). We make our way through Bridgewater until we get to Hut Hill Road, which turns into Minor Bridge Road. We go over Minor Bridge and then turn left on Fall Road, and another left onto South Street to head north. Then we turn left on River Road and a right onto Rocky Mountain Road before turning on to Apple Lane where the park is located. There we will join the Roxbury Democratic Town Committee’s Ice Cream Social featuring many ice cream flavors from Rich’s Farm of Oxford.
